Purpose:

This leadership position directs patient care for the hospital making immediate administrative decisions and supporting senior leadership including Managers, Directors, and Vice Presidents. Our leaders deliver the support needed and work right alongside staff to provide a safe and efficient work environment.

What you will do
:

• Develop, coordinate, and implement staffing plans to ensure adequate care coverage and promote safe, quality care 24/7.
• Coordinate bed management for all admissions and transfers throughout the hospital to achieve the most appropriate bed utilization.
• Coordinate and respond to urgent/emergent situations with administrative support and reallocation of personnel and resources.

• Collaborate with others including peers, physician colleagues, and administrators.
• Attend and conduct nursing leadership rounds.
• Collaborate with unit leadership to achieve unit and organizational quality improvement and outcome-based initiatives.
• Responsible for collaboration, communication, and facilitation of optimal provision of care, in addition to involvement in the provision of direct care of patients and families.

• Ensure quality nursing care is rendered to all patients in accordance with the New York Nurse Practice Act, National Standards of Practice, and Nursing and Clinical Service standards of care and practice.
• Ensure a seamless, effective, efficient transition of care across the continuum.
• Participates in monitoring quality metrics specific to the department and ensure complete and accurate documentation in the patient record.

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing required with three to five years progressive experience in the field. Advanced degree is a plus/requirement, depending on specific service needs and/or requirements. Ideally the candidate will have three to five years supervisory experience.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in New York State. Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.

• Specialty credentialing & educational degree according to clinical nursing practice specialty area preferred.
• Maintains all licensures and certifications according to NYS regulations and specialty area requirements.
• National certification is promoted and supported for clinical ladder growth.
