Position: Production Supervisor (Pharmaceutical)
Location: City of Syracuse

Production Supervisor (Pharmaceutical) - 1st Shift, Monday through Thursday, in office, 7am-4:30pm with schedule flexibility

Summary

This position is responsible for the planning, organizing and direction of assigned production unit(s), and training of staff to assure the facility operates in a highly efficient manner. Position is also responsible to ensure that products manufactured conform to company and regulatory defined product quality standards, safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). This position is responsible for duties and in support of throughput, safety, quality, and reliability.

Also, position is responsible to ensure that employees are properly trained and familiar with operational procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning staff; establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising schedules, resolving problems, and reporting results. Ensure that all production scheduling is met.
  • Supervises personnel in the equipment setup and operation of critical production equipment and processes in accordance with cGMP’s SOP’s, QC Methods, OJT’s, batch records or other approved company documentation to ensure efficiency and the safety, identity, strength, quality and purity of the product.
  • Conducts observations to acquire production/plant status information. Directs work of all assigned production staff. Tours areas to gather information and furnish assistance/guidance to both individuals and groups.
  • Monitors conditions that have or will adversely affect production including interruption of plant utility services and bring to the attention of leadership. Monitors the status of production and assesses current verses planned status of production throughput. Assists in coordinating maintenance activities as necessary to eliminate delays/interruptions/stoppages. Monitors the quality of finished product. Stops production line if quality is suspect. Initiate all necessary action to correct problem.
  • Develops/recommends improvements of facilities, equipment, processes, and/or policies/procedures to improve safety, quality and/or efficiency.
  • Reviews production batch records for accuracy of entries, compliance of established limits/specifications and presence of all verification signatures.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by educating/training and directing personnel on the use of all equipment and resources in compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Communicates production (or shift) performance plan to the staff and lead any relevant discussion points such as goal progress, current events or recent performance feedback.
  • Supervises floor operations for assigned production as well as collaborating with other units such as maintenance, quality, and warehousing. Communicates effectively to maintain production efficiency and resolve issues within production processes.
  • Participates in the interviewing and selection process of direct reports; ensures timely feedback and communication to Human Resources and leadership on selection of candidates.
  • Completes and implements important administrative requirements such as on-boarding and performance appraisals and development plans; ensures company expectations and values are re-affirmed.
  • Ensures ongoing training and supervision of employees. Ensures training of the employees to the requirements of cGMP’s, SOP’s, QC Methods, and OJT’s that enhances knowledge of equipment, processes, and systems. Ensures employees understand duties, responsibilities, policies, and procedures to include understanding production batch record instructions.
  • Coaches, develops, motivates, and mentors employees in areas of responsibilities and supports development of employees’ skills. Coaches and counsels direct reports regarding job performance and employee relation issues.
  • Adjusts to new and changing conditions by working with leadership and other units as necessary to coordinate and enact new plans.
  • Operates equipment to assist with production as needed.
  • Demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot basic mechanical and automation issues.
