Location: City of Syracuse

Syracuse Time & Alarm is seeking an experienced and detail-driven Fire Project Manager to join our growing team in New York State. This role offers the opportunity to lead high-impact fire alarm projects from start to finish, with a focus on budget adherence, code compliance, and effective coordination of field operations. The Fire Project Manager will collaborate closely with our Director of Project Management, sales team, engineering staff, installation technicians, and clients to ensure the successful delivery of life-safety solutions.

We are seeking someone who thrives on responsibility and views this role as essential to protecting our clients and communities—including hospitals, schools, universities, and commercial facilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Management & Execution

  • Oversee all phases of assigned fire alarm projects, including material procurement, scheduling technicians, equipment coordination, and client communication.
  • Ensure projects remain within scope, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor progress, ensure compliance with safety standards, and verify work aligns with project specifications.
  • Review and manage project specifications, drawings, and change orders.
  • Monitor and report on project financials throughout the lifecycle.

Technical Design & Compliance

  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and CAD drawings for proposals and installations.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, including ADA, NEC, and NFPA.
  • Provide technical leadership and support to field operations and engineering teams.
  • Maintain consistent communication with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in weekly project management meetings and act as a key liaison between field teams and executive leadership.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing project concerns and ensuring client satisfaction.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management or related field preferred.
  • Experience with fire alarm systems is required.
  • Industry certifications such as NICET or CTS are a plus.
  • Proficiency or certification in Gamewell FCI or Notifier systems highly desirable.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong project management skills, including resource allocation, scheduling, and cost control.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management abilities.
  • Proficiency in presenting to clients and writing professional correspondence.
  • Solid understanding of financial reporting and cost containment strategies.
  • Ability to solve practical problems independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Familiarity with ADA, NEC, and NFPA codes.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

SCHEDULE
  • Full-time position with regular business hours, Monday to Friday.
  • Travel required throughout Central and Upstate New York to meet clients and oversee projects.
WORK LOCATION
  • In-person and field-based role headquartered out of Syracuse, NY .
