Dishwasher / Kitchen Assistant
Overview
Perform a variety of duties in a dining hall or related facility. Follow written instructions, record temperatures on dish machines and freezers, and maintain the highest standards of sanitation.
Responsibilities- Load and operate a dishwashing machine.
- Remove and store washed dishes, glasses, cups, silverware, and related items.
- Wash pots, pans and cooking utensils.
- Mop floors, and wash walls, windows, cabinets, shelves, equipment, and locker room and bathroom areas.
- Clear and clean tables and dispose of trash and garbage.
- Observe safety and health regulations.
- Move materials into and out of storage area.
- Fill milk and beverage dispensers and replenish as needed.
- Standing and/or walking 85% – 100% of the shift.
- Frequent bending at the waist; able to bend below the knee.
- Twisting and bending of head and torso.
- Full range of arm movement (extension, twisting, and bending of arm and shoulder, reaching overhead, wiping, etc.).
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs from the floor to waist height.
- Able to lift up to 20 lbs. overhead.
- Able to lift and carry up to 20 – 30 lbs. for a distance of up to 10 feet.
- Repetitive wrist movement (e.g., wiping, scrubbing, etc.).
- Frequently work in conditions of extreme heat.
- Ability to push and pull up to 250 lbs.
- Exposure to and handling of solvents, cleaning products, organic waste, dust.
Will be required to learn to operate a variety of equipment including a dishwashing machine, buffer, vacuum cleaner, and use mops and brooms.
