Legal Secretary
Costello, Cooney & Fearon, PLLC, a preeminent Upstate New York firm, is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join its established General Litigation Practice Group in its Syracuse office.
The ideal candidate will be detailed oriented, proactive and experience in managing all phases of the litigation process at all levels of the New York State and Federal court systems.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting attorneys with all phases of litigation from case evaluation and initiation through trial;
- Drafting and filing pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses;
- Organizing and maintaining case files, exhibits and document productions;
- Coordinating and preparing for depositions, hearings and trials;
- Conducting factual research and summarizing depositions and documents;
- Communicating with clients, witnesses, court personnel and counsel;
- Managing court deadlines and maintaining detailed calendaring systems;
- Assisting with electronic discovery and document management.
Qualifications:
- Paralegal certificate or Bachelor’s degree preferred;
- 3+ years of litigation paralegal experience;
- Strong knowledge of state and federal court procedures and rules;
- Experience with e-filing systems;
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, case management software and legal research tools;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines;
- Team-oriented with a commitment to high-quality work product.
Salary range:$63K-$75K annually, plus bonus potential tied to performance metrics.
The above salary range is the good faith range for this position at the firm at the time of posting.
Final determination of compensation will incorporate a number of factors, including, but not limited to, relevant experience and qualifications.
