Job SummaryThis position is based in Syracuse, NY.
Responsibilities- The Data Governance Coordinator will contribute to the expansion of Upstate's data governance program and its initiatives, including implementing and maintaining a data catalog, enhancing data quality and reporting content certification processes, and collaborating with developers and business users to improve data accessibility and value.
- Ensure adherence to data privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA, FERPA, IRB) and determine permissions for access to sensitive information.
- Create and manage project plans, facilitate workgroup and committee meetings, implement software solutions, develop governance-related documentation, monitor policy adherence, identify process improvements, and promote data governance practices across the Upstate community.
- Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of relevant experience in data management, information systems, analytics and/or project management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Master's degree and at least 3 years of relevant experience in data management, information systems, analytics and/or project management.
- Data governance experience, preferably in a higher education and/or healthcare setting.
- Experience with data catalog implementation and/or project management.
- Clear and concise writing skills with the ability to facilitate meetings among multidisciplinary groups.
