Peer Specialist

Position SummaryTo serve as a person's individual advocate, develop opportunities for skill development and assure that the person's choices drive their goals and plans.
Education, Training, Experience, Certification And Licensure- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
- Must be a Certified Peer Specialist or have provisional certification through NY York Peer Specialists (NYCPS) or The New York Peer Specialist Certification Board (NYPSCB)
- Must have an understanding of recovery concepts and person-centered approaches and be successfully implementing them in their own recovery.
Participates in orientation and continuing education. Updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise. Completes population specific competency annually on populations served as identified in scope of care and service.
Special Equipment, Skills Or Other RequirementsUtilize and maintain training and educational opportunities yearly.
Work Environment And HazardsClinical and rehabilitation setting. Exposure Class I – routine or potential exposure to blood, body fluids, excretions, or secretions.
Physical DemandsMedium work; must be able to lift, bend, stoop, push, and pull.
