Responsibilities
  • Answer incoming calls from patients and referring providers; process referrals and coordinate the surgeon s multiple schedules, including clinic appointments, surgery schedules, administrative and academic schedules.
  • Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned, including checking schedules and coordinating with surgical schedulers; sending/receiving patient medical records; obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, completing forms/requisitions as needed; scheduling appointments; verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics; managing and updating charts to ensure information is complete and filed appropriately; obtaining insurance authorizations and pre-certifications and, as necessary, attaining authorizations through appropriate websites or by contacting insurance companies directly.
  • Fulfills organizational responsibilities such as respecting/promoting patient rights; responding appropriately to emergency codes; communicating problems relating to patients and/or staff with immediate supervisor and maintaining open lines of communication with the surgeon; facilitates communication between patients and surgeon.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum:
    High school or equivalent and two years of directly related medical secretary/office experience. Will consider equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred:
    Previous experience in an ambulatory medical office and use of computer systems such as Epic, Word, Outlook, Chartmaxx, etc. Knowledge of PCMH preferred.
  • Work days:
    Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.
Salary

G3: $16.00 - $25.88. Salary information shown is a general guideline and based on candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as internal equity, market and business considerations.
