Job Summary
The Mental Health Therapy Aide (MHTA) fulfills objectives within the mission of the Golisano Center for Special Needs for the inpatient units.
Duties include:
engaging in daily meetings with the behavior team to discuss treatment plans, participating in the implementation of treatment plans, assisting with daily living tasks while ensuring patients’ privacy and dignity, managing data, participating in the implementation of behavioral treatment procedures, using time efficiently and productively, accepting responsibilities and conducting oneself in a professional manner, identifying problems and suggesting strategies for resolving issues, and interacting with colleagues in a positive manner appropriate to audience and format.
Ability to physically manage patients is required.
The NYS Department of Civil Service has developed the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement (HELP) Program, effective April 5th, 2023. During this program, the NYS Civil Service Exam requirements are suspended for the Mental Health Therapy Aide, SG09 title.
For consideration for this title, you must meet all of the following minimum qualifications: graduated from high school or have earned a high school equivalency diploma (such as a GED).
Preferred Qualifications- Have one (1) year of full-time direct patient care experience working in a mental health setting.
Schedule based on a 40‑hour work week. Evening shift, every other weekend, holidays, and pass days rotating based on operational needs.
