Title: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
Location: Syracuse, NY
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Day / Evening – 4x8-Hour & 4x12-Hour (Variable Shifts)

• Assist surgeons and surgical teams during operative procedures by performing sterile scrub duties

• Prepare operating rooms by setting up surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment

• Maintain a sterile field and adhere strictly to aseptic and infection control techniques

• Anticipate surgeon needs and provide appropriate instruments and supplies throughout procedures

• Participate in surgical time-outs and patient verification processes

• Assist with positioning, prepping, and draping patients for surgery

• Handle specimens appropriately according to hospital policy

• Count sponges, needles, and instruments before, during, and after procedures

• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, and perioperative staff

• Respond efficiently to emergent and trauma surgical cases

• Ensure operating rooms are cleaned, restocked, and prepared for subsequent cases

• Float to other surgical units or campuses as needed based on staffing requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of recent operating room experience in an acute care hospital

• Strong scrub experience required;
  First Assist experience not applicable

• Experience in a Level I or Level II trauma center or comparable facility preferred

• Demonstrated experience with a variety of surgical specialties, including:

  • Trauma

  • Orthopedics

  • General Surgery

  • ENT

  • Vascular

  • GYN

  • Bariatric and GU (preferred)

• Ability to function independently with minimal orientation and supervision

• Comfortable handling emergency and high-acuity surgical cases

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills

• Willingness to work variable shifts, rotating schedules, and holidays as required

• Prior travel experience preferred; first-time travelers considered with large-facility experience

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) – NBSTSA (Required)

• Active state license or registration (as required by state regulations)

• BLS – Basic Life Support (Required)
