Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit within a large acute care hospital. The RN will provide comprehensive patient care to adult medical and cardiac populations, including patients requiring continuous telemetry monitoring. This role requires strong assessment skills, the ability to manage higher-acuity Med/Surg patients, and experience responding to cardiac and medical emergencies.
Unit Overview
- 26-bed MS/Telemetry unit
- Patient population includes:
- Post-PCI patients
- Pacemaker and AICD patients
- Post-myocardial infarction patients
- Cardiac pharmacologic intervention management
- 1:5 to 1:7 (Med/Surg)
- Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care to adult MS/Tele patients
- Perform continuous cardiac monitoring and interpret telemetry rhythms
- Recognize and manage dysrhythmias and participate in rapid response/code situations
- Administer medications and IV therapies per physician orders
- Perform peripheral IV care and basic phlebotomy as required
- Monitor respiratory status and manage oxygen delivery devices, including nasal cannula and face masks
- Maintain strict infection control and isolation precautions
- Document patient care accurately and timely using an electronic medical record system
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Active New York State RN license (must be in hand at time of submission)
- Minimum 1 year of recent MS/Tele experience
- BLS certification (current)
- Prior experience with telemetry monitoring and cardiac patients
- Ability to work rotating day/night shifts
- Willingness to float within skill set as needed
- Experience using EPIC EMR
- Prior travel nursing experience (first-time travelers accepted)
- Strong cardiac assessment and rhythm interpretation skills
