Location: City of Syracuse

Work Week:
Monday - Friday 4:45 AM to 4:15 PM

  • Pleasantly checks in, answers phones, and schedules patient’s appointments within SOS. This position will primarily be at a check in desk, and will act as backup to check out and phones when volume allows. Work to include accurately inputting & updating patient demographic and insurance information in a timely manner, scheduling appointments utilizing our provider guidelines, scan insurance cards, printing provider paperwork, daily reports, provides appropriate front desk forms to patients to fill out, and other secretarial duties.
  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of our insurance policies, properly inform patients of “par" status and referral requirements. Utilizes insurance information provided by our billing department/management team. Follows protocol for use of Waiver forms.
  • Consistently asks appropriate questions of new patients and schedules with appropriate SOS provider. Utilizes triage nurse as necessary when there is a question about appointment availability.
  • Responds to any scheduling or rescheduling needs of our Physicians as notified by supervisor. Reschedules patients correctly & timely in system.
  • Ensures the insurance information attached to the appointment is updated and informs patient of necessary requirements for their appointment such as (films, referral, insurance cards, records, etc.).
  • Obtains referrals for office visits as required by insurance. Assisting patient using a VRI interpreting system. CD importing, intake and process payments for disability forms.
  • Thorough knowledge of Allscripts system; how it is utilized when dealing with registrations, appointment scheduling, referrals, etc. Demonstrates appropriate knowledge as necessary with billing system.
  • Takes patient task messages according to protocol ensuring accuracy and completeness of information.
