Medical Radiographer-CT

Job Summary

Medical Radiographer - CT. Read and interpret requests and instructions of physicians concerning CT examination techniques. Determine body regions and projections to be undertaken, greet patients, explain procedures and reassure anxious patients; guide and position patients before and during examinations to obtain required views. Operate CT equipment by setting controls and making adjustments using guidelines and standard procedures as directed by physicians to procure the required images.

Receive general technical supervision from Senior Technologist including orientation to the facility and equipment, advice on procedures and spot-checks of overall performance to determine effectiveness. Other responsibilities include supervision of junior and student technologists and quality control of CT examinations, including proper positioning, technique factors, and appropriate use of resources.

Provide orientation of new technologists and maintain clinical competencies of staff. Advise and assist staff technologists as needed (e.g., new routine, special views, uncooperative patients or dealing with family members as appropriate). Coordinate and direct patient flow to various scan rooms. Review patient schedule and coordinate flow to achieve maximum efficiency. Report all potential equipment malfunctions to the appropriate service personnel or supervisor.

Work/train radiographic students in the use and maintenance of radiographic equipment. Demonstrate ethical, courteous, and efficient interactions with patients, personnel and visitors.

• AAS in Radiologic Technology or equivalent
• NYS license/registration (Must receive within 6 months of limited permit)
• ARRT (must obtain within 1 year of appointment)
• One year experience as a radiologic technologist
• Current CPR-BLS certification required
• Registration certification for Contrast Injection required (must obtain within 3 months of appointment)
• Must have limited permit by time of appointment if NYS License/Registration hasn't been obtained yet
• Candidates who possess an A.A.S. in Radiologic Technology or equivalent, NYS license or eligible, and no experience will be considered for appointment to an entry level (SL1) position

Work Days:
Hours to be determined. Will work weekends and holidays on rotation. Depending on departmental needs, overtime may be required.
