About The Role

This internship in Financial Controls and Accounting provides hands‑on experience in critical aspects of corporate finance. The role ensures compliance with internal controls, regulatory standards, and accounting policies to maintain financial integrity; prepares and analyzes financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, contributing to accurate and timely reporting.
Additional responsibilities include support for reconciliation tasks, assistance in audits, and review of financial data to identify discrepancies or inefficiencies. The internship offers valuable exposure to financial systems, reporting frameworks, and compliance processes, fostering a deeper understanding of organizational financial management while developing essential analytical and technical skills.
Financial Controls:
- Support the execution of key FCO program activities including process and control scoping, end‑to‑end process and control walkthroughs, and documentation management.
- Interact with process owners across departments including Finance, IT, and Operations, as well as internal and external auditors.
- Support the team in enhancing and automating key controls across the organization; assist in documentation management related to deficiency remediation activities.
Financial Reporting:
- Assist in the analysis and interpretation of financial data.
- Help prepare financial statements such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Perform bank reconciliations and reconcile other accounts as needed, identifying discrepancies and assisting in resolving them.
- Help ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
Dates: Nine‑week program beginning in early June 2026
Hourly Rate: $22/hour
Location: Charlotte, NC or Syracuse, NY
Work Environment: Hybrid schedule with on‑site presence of 3 days per week, combining flexibility with team collaboration.
What You’ll Bring- Rising senior class of 2027 preferred.
- Comfortable with and experience in financial/quantitative data analysis.
- Ability to deliver results in a fast‑paced environment, manage multiple projects, solve problems, and think strategically/critically.
- Pro‑active, comfortable working in an often‑ambiguous environment, able to pivot quickly from one task to another.
- Interpersonal skills and high level of comfort/ease to interact with all levels of the organization.
