Job Description

HII Mission Technologies is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Syracuse, NY.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with engineering leads, technicians, and cross‑functional teams to support the design, development, assembly, and manufacturing of advanced power, radar, and sensor systems for military applications. You will have opportunities to contribute to requirements flow‑down, concept development, rapid prototyping, mechanical design, environmental analysis, producibility assessments, and environmental testing.

This position involves working on complex technical projects that require strong engineering fundamentals and industry knowledge. The ideal candidate demonstrates attention to detail, creativity, adaptability, and a willingness to learn beyond their comfort zone, while possessing effective written and presentation skills.

Essential

Job Responsibilities
  • Support engineering research, design, development, integration, and analysis of complex electro‑mechanical products. Perform 3D modeling, 2D drafting, and computer‑aided simulations of concept designs.
  • Create preliminary, draft, or final released technical data packages.
  • Identify problems or deficiencies that shall require configuration or procedural changes.
  • Provide inputs to project peers and technical leads.
  • Comply with applicable AS9100 Quality procedures in the performance of duties.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 0 years experience with Bachelors in related field.
  • Familiarity in 3D solid modeling such as Solid Works or related.
  • Understanding of dynamic motion and thermal principles, calculations, and applications.
  • Clearance:
    Ability to obtain and maintain a secret level security clearance.
Preferred Requirements
  • Familiarity 2D drawings such as AutoCAD or related.
  • Experience performing structural shock & vibration and thermal Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using tools such as Ansys Mechanical Workbench and Icepak, or related.
  • Experience with technical drawing creation in tools such as Solid Works and AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of metal and plastic fabrication processes and equipment.
  • Knowledge of cable harness assembly materials and methods.
  • Experience interfacing with vendors and customers.
  • Experience with Solid Works PDM is a plus.
  • Active secret security clearance.
Physical Requirements
  • May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
