We are seeking a Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensed in New York State with active CPESC (Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control) credentials to serve as a Qualified Inspector for erosion, sediment, and stormwater compliance. This role ensures that construction projects comply with New York’s erosion, sediment control, and stormwater regulations. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, excellent field judgment, and the ability to communicate effectively with contractors, clients, and regulatory agencies.
Key Responsibilities Erosion & Sediment Control Compliance- Conduct routine and event‑based inspections of active construction sites to ensure compliance with approved SWPPP (Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans) and regulatory requirements.
- Identify deficiencies, recommend corrective actions, and verify implementation of erosion and sediment control measures.
- Document site conditions through detailed inspection reports, photographs, and field notes.
- Review and interpret stormwater management plans, grading plans, and engineering drawings.
- Ensure BMPs (Best Management Practices) are properly installed, maintained, and function as designed.
- Evaluate site conditions after rainfall events and assess potential environmental risks.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies during inspections or audits.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of federal (EPA), state, and local stormwater regulations.
- Assist with permit applications, renewals, and compliance documentation.
- Provide engineering guidance related to erosion control design, drainage, and site stabilization.
- Recommend improvements or modifications to BMPs based on site conditions and performance.
- Support project teams with technical analysis, calculations, and plan reviews.
- Prepare clear, accurate, and timely inspection reports.
- Track corrective actions and ensure closeout of compliance issues.
- Maintain organized records for audits, project closeout, and regulatory submissions.
- Active New York state Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
- Current CPESC (Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control) certification.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in civil engineering, environmental compliance, construction oversight, or related field.
- Strong understanding of erosion and sediment control practices, stormwater regulations, and BMP implementation.
- Ability to work independently in field conditions and make sound technical decisions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Permit conditions and compliance understanding.
- Proficiency with inspection software, GIS tools, and standard office applications.
- Experience with large‑scale infrastructure, electrical and gas rights‑of‑ways, or land development projects.
- Knowledge of hydrology/hydraulics, grading, and drainage design.
- OSHA 10/30 certification.
- Experience coordinating with contractors and regulatory agencies.
- Frequent fieldwork in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to walk uneven terrain, climb slopes, and carry field equipment.
- Occasional travel to project sites within New York.
The salary range for this position is provided in good faith and is subject to variation based on geographic location, candidate experience, and market conditions. Final compensation will be determined after a comprehensive evaluation of the candidate’s qualifications and alignment with the role.
