Technical Manager–MV Renewables
Lead Medium‑Voltage Renewable Energy Projects and Drive Technical Excellence
Fisher Associates is seeking a Technical Manager–MV Electrical Engineering to lead medium‑voltage (MV) renewable energy engineering and design for utility‑scale and commercial projects, including solar PV, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and wind power. In this role you will provide senior‑level electrical engineering leadership, oversee design QA/QC, calculations, red‑line reviews, and deliverable verification, ensuring all work complies with industry codes, permitting requirements, utility standards, and client specifications.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Lead medium‑voltage (MV) electrical engineering design for renewable energy projects including solar PV, BESS, and wind
- Provide senior technical leadership and serve as a subject‑matter expert for electrical engineering teams
- Oversee QA/QC reviews of electrical designs, calculations, red‑lines, and construction deliverables
- Mentor engineers and drafters, ensuring technical accuracy and high‑quality drawing production
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Technical Leads, and multi‑discipline teams across all project phases
- Develop scopes of work, technical specifications, and phased design packages (30%, 60%, IFC)
- Perform and review electrical calculations including load flow, short circuit, grounding, protective coordination, ampacity, voltage drop, and equipment sizing
- Apply expertise in MV systems with working knowledge of HV substations and gen‑tie systems
- Ensure compliance with NEC, IEEE, NFPA, NERC, utility standards, and permitting requirements
- Support proposals with engineering scopes, design assumptions, and cost estimates
- Conduct power system and interconnection studies (CESIR, SIS, BOP solutions)
- Support construction with field engineering, site visits, and as‑built reviews
- Drive continuous improvement through updated standards, processes, and engineering tools
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
- 15+ years of electrical engineering experience supporting renewable energy and power generation projects
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- Experience with solar PV, BESS, wind, and renewable EPC projects
- Proven expertise in short circuit, load flow, grounding, protective coordination, cable sizing, ampacity, and equipment sizing
- Ability to read and interpret MV/HV single‑line diagrams (SLDs)
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, PVCase, PVSyst, ETAP, SKM, and Civil 3D
- Strong working knowledge of IEEE, NFPA, NEC, and NERC codes
- Understanding of renewable and conventional power plant regulatory environments, DC/AC systems, and interconnection processes

Salary Range $130,000 – $170,000
