CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Energy Engineering Team Leader to join our Generation & Energy Management Team in Albany, NY;
Parsippany, NJ;
Rochester, NY; or Syracuse, NY

. In this pivotal role, you’ll be responsible for a group of 20+ mechanical engineers and work directly with multidisciplinary teams and project managers to influence sustainable energy solutions. In this role, you will help foster a culture of innovation, sustainability, and technical excellence.

What You’ll Do
  • Act as the overall people manager for a talented group of professionals dedicated to building HVAC design, with a particular focus on energy efficiency and decarbonization — keeping a pulse on team morale and engagement
  • Be responsible for the technical quality and accuracy of deliverables of the 20+ person group of engineerings, including staff who have strong but diverse backgrounds in HVAC and plumbing design, energy auditing, and commissioning
  • Directly manage staffing levels, resource allocation, and operational activities to ensure optimal team performance
  • Develop and mentor staff to deliver high‑quality energy management projects—on time and within budget
  • Directly manage projects of varying size and scope, from planning and proposal development to closeout and client satisfaction
  • Be responsible for the mechanical energy team’s financial performance, recommend improvements, and help drive business practice targets
  • Communicate regularly with leadership and staff, sharing key wins, recognition, and performance updates
  • Actively lead the team in quality control; and support risk management and project audits to ensure technical excellence
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required;
    Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive engineering experience required, with project management and technical leadership experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Expert knowledge of the respective engineering discipline with a proven ability to apply best practices
  • Experience with mechanical design and energy efficiency required; experience with energy auditing and commissioning preferred
  • Advanced proficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD, Micro Station, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of QA/QC procedures, business practices, and engineering laws
  • Proven success as a leader—strategic, technically astute, and client-focused
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; persuasive and articulate in all settings
  • Participation in professional engineering societies/organizations preferred
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and build relationships across the company
  • Strong experience with project budgeting and financial oversight

Salary Range

$160,000 - $170,000
