Chief Engineer, Pit

Overview

Schedule:

2 weeks on 2 weeks off (FIFO), 12-hour shifts. Flights to Winnipeg or Thunder Bay with bus service to the site.

Residential: A Relocation package is available for those preferring to relocate

• Contribute to the development of policies and procedures in engineering.
• Oversee the production of drill pattern designs.
• Oversee pit phase designs, short-term planning, and production surveying.
• Confirm that pit designs are thoroughly and accurately executed in practical applications.
• Contribute to the preparation of the annual budget and long-term strategies.
• Verify production targets through equipment studies.
• Supervise survey, drilling, and blasting to align with planning priorities.
• Evaluate short-term mine plans to ensure they are consistent with operational objectives.
• Function as 2IC for Senior Geologist when they are off-site.
• Research data to support decision-making and improve procedures, technologies, or methodologies.
• Train and coach direct reports for maximum efficiency.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering required; advanced degree preferred.
• Professional Engineer or equivalent certification is required.
• Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in open pit mining engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Experienced in leading large open-pit mining projects and teams.
