What You’ll Do as a Transportation Highway Group Manager
  • Deliver transportation projects that improve mobility, safety, and quality of life.
  • Foster a high‑performing team through clear expectations, constructive feedback, mentoring and career development.
  • Oversee design and execution of highway engineering projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations and client requirements.
  • Serve as technical lead, guiding the team on best practices, decisions and troubleshooting.
  • Implement and oversee quality control processes and technical audits.
  • Maintain effective communication with project managers, clients and cross‑functional teams.
  • Ensure effective resource allocation, adequate staffing and utilization to meet goals.
  • Assist in recruiting top engineering talent.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Stay current with transportation design trends and emerging technologies, integrating them into solutions.
  • Contribute to the organization’s technical strategy and future needs.

Salary Range

$110,000‑$170,000 annually

Requirements
  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering
  • 8‑15 years of experience in civil transportation engineering
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred or ability to obtain
  • Prior staff management preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office;
    Micro Station preferred
  • Familiarity with NYDOT design standards preferred
