Municipal Wastewater Process Design Engineer
Ramboll is seeking motivated and inquisitive candidates to join the Water Division in locations including Syracuse, NY;
Rochester, NY;
Arlington, VA; or Richmond, VA.
- Plan and design portions of complex projects following design standards and codes.
- Analyze and interpret reports, drawings, analytical data, and other design data related to wastewater treatment.
- Review and determine regulatory requirements (local, state, federal) applicable to the assignment.
- Prepare and present reports or analysis such as design calculations, field data results/conclusions, and cost estimates to internal and external audiences.
- Communicate directly with external stakeholders including vendors, contractors, subcontractors, and regulators.
- Support preparation of proposals and fee estimates.
- Train and mentor early career employees.
- Utilize advanced understanding of engineering fundamentals and proficiency with relevant computer software packages and engineering/design techniques specific to wastewater treatment and hydraulic engineering.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Commit to delivering high‑quality work products to clients.
- Troubleshoot and proactively solve field assignment problems in accordance with project control and field guidance documents.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Civil, or Environmental Engineering.
- 10+ years of qualifying engineering experience in wastewater treatment engineering/design.
- Experience with BNR and ENR processes on municipal wastewater projects, particularly in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed or similar program.
- Professional Engineering certification or ability to obtain licensure in primary state of residence/operation relevant to job function.
- Proficiency in advanced wastewater treatment, hydraulic engineering, and related computer software.
Travel may be required depending on project requirements.
SalaryAnnual Salary Range: $115,000 – $140,000. (Excludes bonuses, overtime, other compensation or benefits.)
