Job Description:
The Department of Engineering Science and Technology is pleased to invite applications for Adjunct Instructors to support Electrical Technology, Mechanical Technology, Electromechanical Technology, and Welding Technology degree programs.
Major responsibilities include college-level teaching of Electromechanical, Electrical, Mechanical, or Welding Technology courses and laboratories in areas such as machining, manufacturing, mechanism design, programming fundamentals, industrial safety, engineering drawing creation, circuit design and analysis, digital electronics, microprocessors, programmable logic controllers, pneumatics, robotics, soldering and electronic assembly, electrical test & measurement, mechanical assembly techniques, motors & controllers, sensors & machine vision, automation, and industrial control systems.
Additionally, knowledge of welding technology, including arc welding: TIG, MIG, STICK, material management, and advanced techniques, is in demand.
The successful candidate will:
- Prepare and present lectures and course materials that comply with course outlines and outcomes.
- Meet with students as needed to answer questions.
- Respond to student queries (e.g., email or voice mail) in a timely manner.
- Write, administer, and grade all student assignments and exams.
- Compute grades and submit them on time.
- Teach courses in accordance with the schedule of classes and follow the approved course descriptions and syllabi established by the Division faculty and administered by the associate dean/director.
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma.
- A minimum of five years' work experience in a technology field such as electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, pneumatics, robotics, soldering and electronic assembly, electrical test & measurement, mechanical assembly techniques, motors & controllers, sensors & machine vision, industrial control systems, and welding.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Candidates with various combinations of earned degrees (master's, bachelor's, associate), licenses, certifications, and experience in Engineering, Mechanical Technology, or related fields will be considered for Adjunct Faculty positions.
- Background in teaching college-level courses.
- Demonstrated connections with local industry.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (English and another language will be considered).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Practical hands-on, design, or technology management experience in the application of electrical technology, mechanical technology, or welding.
- Familiar with some or all of the following engineering software programs:
Autocad, Inventor, Solidworks, Creo, Fusion 360, Lab View, PLC Programming, CNC Programming, Matlab, Python, Quartus II, Circuit Maker 6.
Additional Information:
- Current adjunct pay rate is: $1,371/credit hour pay rate).
- Adjuncts are eligible to participate in the NYS Retirement System (pension).
