Position Overview

The Electrical Engineer will serve as the lead electrical designer and project contributor supporting all phases of design from concept to construction administration. Working under the guidance of a Senior Electrical Engineer, this role provides an opportunity for professional growth into project leadership while offering exposure to a diverse range of building types.

The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented professional with experience designing power distribution, lighting, and fire alarm systems, and a strong grasp of electrical codes and building standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead electrical design efforts on projects from concept through completion.
  • Perform site visits and review existing documentation for renovation and new construction projects.
  • Prepare project narratives, studies, and design analyses.
  • Develop electrical concepts and carry them through to construction documentation.
  • Perform electrical system design for construction drawings, including details, plans, sections, and elevations.
  • Conduct load calculations, voltage drop, and short-circuit analyses.
  • Select and specify electrical equipment, lighting fixtures, and control systems.
  • Develop construction documents using AutoCAD and Revit in accordance with firm standards.
  • Review submittals, respond to RFIs, and resolve construction issues in the field.
  • Coordinate designs with architectural, mechanical, and structural disciplines.
  • Prepare cost estimates, specifications, and reports.
  • Ensure code compliance with Building Code of NYS, Fire Code of NYS, NFPA 70 (NEC), and NFPA 72.
  • Mentor junior electrical designers and support their professional development.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred but not required).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience at an MEP consulting or engineering design firm.
  • Proven expertise in designing power distribution, lighting, lighting controls, and fire alarm systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Understanding of Building Code of NYS, Fire Code of NYS, NFPA 72, and National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) preferred (or on path to licensure).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality.
Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary: $100,000 - $165,000 annually (DOE)
