Senior Telecommunications Engineer – Jacobs

This role allows you to work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment, building telecommunications solutions for data center markets. The position is open to candidates across the United States; ideally, applicants will be near a U.S. Jacobs office.

• Lead BIM designers in preparation of engineering drawings.
• Create or modify DIV 27 specifications.
• Conduct site visits and review technical documents.
• Mentor team members and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Sign and seal telecommunications design packages.
• Identify processes to improve department efficiency.
• Potentially lead projects based on bandwidth.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Communication Engineering from an ABET‑accredited college.
• Minimum 8 years’ experience designing or leading designs for telecommunications structured cabling systems.
• Thorough knowledge of ANSI/TIA, BICSI, NFPA 70 standards.
• Proficiency with Bluebeam.
• Self‑motivation to coordinate with multiple disciplines, project managers, and clients.
• Excellent project‑management skills.
• Experience responding to RFPs and quality assurance of telecommunications systems.
• Experience in start‑up and commissioning of telecom systems.
• Ability to create and maintain project budgets and schedules.
• Experience mitigating company risk.
• PE license (multiple licenses preferred).

• 4+ years of telecommunications design in data centers.
• Experience with other low‑voltage systems (security, audio/video, wireless).
• Working knowledge of Revit and Navisworks design platforms.
• Knowledge of telecom infrastructure for controls and security systems.
• Familiarity with CSI or AIA specification writing procedures.
• RCDD credential.
