Senior Telecommunications Engineer – Jacobs
Base Pay Range$/yr – $/yr
OverviewJacobs is redefining the future of cities, environments, and critical operations. This role allows you to work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment, building telecommunications solutions for data center markets. The position is open to candidates across the United States; ideally, applicants will be near a U.S. Jacobs office.
Responsibilities- Lead BIM designers in preparation of engineering drawings.
- Create or modify DIV 27 specifications.
- Conduct site visits and review technical documents.
- Mentor team members and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Sign and seal telecommunications design packages.
- Identify processes to improve department efficiency.
- Potentially lead projects based on bandwidth.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Communication Engineering from an ABET‑accredited college.
- Minimum 8 years’ experience designing or leading designs for telecommunications structured cabling systems.
- Thorough knowledge of ANSI/TIA, BICSI, NFPA 70 standards.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam.
- Self‑motivation to coordinate with multiple disciplines, project managers, and clients.
- Excellent project‑management skills.
- Experience responding to RFPs and quality assurance of telecommunications systems.
- Experience in start‑up and commissioning of telecom systems.
- Ability to create and maintain project budgets and schedules.
- Experience mitigating company risk.
- PE license (multiple licenses preferred).
- 4+ years of telecommunications design in data centers.
- Experience with other low‑voltage systems (security, audio/video, wireless).
- Working knowledge of Revit and Navisworks design platforms.
- Knowledge of telecom infrastructure for controls and security systems.
- Familiarity with CSI or AIA specification writing procedures.
- RCDD credential.
