Onondaga Community College, located in Syracuse, NY, is a college of the State University of New York (SUNY) system and one of 30 locally sponsored community colleges throughout New York State. Onondaga County is our sponsor. We offer two-year degree programs that serve as transfer opportunities to baccalaureate degree programs at four-year campuses or for direct entry to the workforce. We also offer certificate programs that can generally be completed in one year.

The instructor will teach content consistent with American Red Cross standards for:
The primary purpose of this course is to help participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing, and first aid emergencies. It teaches the knowledge and skills needed to give immediate care to an injured or ill person and to decide whether advanced medical care is needed. This course meets the coaching First Aid and CPR requirements for First Aid.

Taught under American Red Cross standards, this course offers professional rescuer certification. Students will learn to provide initial care for breathing and cardiac emergencies to adults, infants, and children. Included: two-rescuer CPR, use of a resuscitation mask, bag-valve-mask, and AED. The course is intended for public safety personnel, athletic trainers, lifeguards, emergency response teams, and healthcare professionals. (1 Credit)
Candidates must have current, appropriate certification to teach CPR/BLS/First Aid/CPR for the Professional Rescuer from the American Red Cross or a similar national certifying body and must maintain these credentials while employed.
Additional Information:The person hired for this position is eligible to participate in the New York State Teachers' Retirement System.
