U students for both in-class support (self-advocacy, support with class work, communication) and navigating student life on campus (engagement, organization, time management, exploring campus resources, dining on campus, accessing technology, attending events and clubs, etc.)
Inclusive
U at Syracuse University offers a comprehensive college experience for students with intellectual disabilities including individualized coursework, professional internships, and social and extracurricular activities. Students select classes and participate in on-campus internships to gain marketable, transferable job skills. Syracuse University students from all majors and disciplines have the opportunity to work with Inclusive
U students as mentors, partnering for social events, academics, and other campus activities.
- Implements Staff Actions Plans for Community Habilitation services, including safeguard information, providing guidance and encouragement at all times.
- Demonstrates positive examples in dress, communication, social behaviors, and healthy decision making.
- Learns to communicate effectively with the student, develops rapport, and relationship of trust.
- Respects each student’s choices and needs.
- Maintains positive relationships with the student, their natural supports, and other staff.
- Immediately reports incidents of abuse, neglect or other reportable issues.
- Attends all Springbrook required trainings.
- Documents service delivery contemporaneously using agency software only.
- Adheres to schedule determined by the student, is prompt, reports major schedule changes via Sling.
- All other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in the use of computer software.
- Meet the requirements to drive Springbrook vehicles as required.
