Syracuse University's David
B. Falk College of Sport invites applications for an Open Rank faculty position in Exercise Science to begin in August 2026 (tenure-track Assistant Professor, tenured Associate Professor, or tenured Full Professor). The Falk College of Sport is the nation's first and only college at a Carnegie R1 (very high research activity) university focused exclusively on sport-related disciplines. This reflects Syracuse University's strategic commitment and Falk College's strategic priorities to sport as a focal point for interdisciplinary scholarship, innovative academic programs, and transformative student experiences.
The Department of Exercise Science comprises an interdisciplinary faculty with expertise in the broad areas of physical activity measurement, exercise endocrinology and youth obesity, muscle biology, biomechanics, vascular exercise physiology, neuroscience, genetics, respiratory physiology, and environmental physiology. Our faculty are also active members of campus-wide research groups such as the Neuroscience Program, Aging Studies Institute, Burton Blatt Institute on Disability, Center for Health Behavior Research, and the Institute for Veterans and Military Families.
The Department currently offers a B.S. in Health and Exercise Science, and both an M.S. and Ph.D. in Exercise Science with Human Performance-focused programs under development.
We are actively seeking candidates with a research agenda that focuses on athletic populations, such as athlete health and/or performance
. This includes strength and conditioning, sport science, sport nutrition, athlete injury and rehabilitation, and more. Candidates that show the potential to collaborate across other departments within Falk College (Nutrition, Sport Analytics, Sport Management), and/or have strong industry partnerships will receive special consideration.
