Onondaga Community College, located in Syracuse, NY is a college of the State University of New York (SUNY) system and one of 30 locally sponsored community colleges throughout New York State. Onondaga County is our sponsor. We offer two-year degree programs that serve as transfer opportunities to baccalaureate degree programs at four-year campuses or for direct entry to the workforce. We also offer certificate programs that can generally be completed in one year.

Job Description Summary:

Onondaga Community College is accepting applications for skilled adjunct instructors to teach Psychology.

Major Responsibilities:

• College-level teaching of Psychology courses. The current need is for instructors to teach PSY
  103 General Psychology especially day/afternoon time slots.
• Preparing and presenting lectures.
• Meeting with students as needed to answer questions.
• Responding to student queries (e.g. email or voice mail) as needed, in a reasonably timely manner.
• Writing, administering, and grading all student assignments and exams.
• Computing grades and submitting them on time.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master's Degree or higher in Psychology or qualifying field from an accredited college, university or foreign equivalency.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong candidates will have some experience teaching at the community college level and working with diverse populations of students, especially underrepresented students.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and other languages will be considered.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office Product suite.

Application Instructions:

• Adjunct rate of pay for the 25/26academic year is $1,483/credit hour. Classes will be assigned on an as needed basis dependent upon enrollment.
• Adjuncts are eligible to participate in the NYS Teacher's Retirement System.
