Job Description:
The Department of Engineering Science and Technology is pleased to invite OSHA certified instructors to apply to teach our "General Industry" Outreaching Training course. Instructors will teach a seven-week course that will meet once weekly for 110 minutes. Students successfully completing this course will be eligible for an OSHA-10 General Industry Safety and Health card.
The successful candidate will:
- Prepare and present lectures and course materials that comply with course outlines and outcomes;
- Meet with students as needed to answer questions;
- Respond to student queries (e.g. email or voice mail) as needed, in a reasonably timely manner;
- Write, administer, and grade all student assignments and exams;
- Compute grades and submit them on time.
- Teach courses in accordance with the schedule of classes and follow the approved course descriptions and syllabi established by the department faculty
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- OSHA Instructor Certification for 10-hour General Industry Training and
- High school diploma and a minimum of fiveyears' work experience in a technology field such as electrical engineering, mechanical engineering,pneumatics, robotics, soldering and electronic assembly, electrical test & measurement, mechanical assembly techniques, motors & controllers, sensors & machine vision, and industrial control systems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Background in teaching college level courses;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint);
- Demonstrated connections with local industry;
- Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and another language will be considered.
Additional Information:
- Adjunct pay rate for 2024/25 is $1,440/credit hour.
- Person hired for this position is eligible to participate in the NYS Teachers' Retirement System.
