Job Summary

St. Joseph’s Health is seeking a fellowship-trained, Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Orthopedic Hand Surgeon to serve as a founding member of our brand-new, hospital-employed Orthopedic Surgery Program in Syracuse, NY. This is a rare opportunity to move into a high-volume clinical environment while holding a “seat at the table” to shape the culture, clinical protocols, and future growth of the department.

Description

As we launch this premier orthopedic initiative, we are looking for a surgeon who balances clinical excellence with an entrepreneurial spirit. You will step into a ready-made practice environment with a robust internal referral network and state-of-the-art facilities.

Position Highlights
  • Program Leadership:
    Impact the design and direction of a newly established group.
  • Operational Efficiency:
    Support from dedicated Surgical PAs and protected block time in specialized ORs.
  • Clinical Scope:
    High volume of elective and acute cases, including complex fractures, tendon/nerve repairs, and microvascular procedures.
  • Streamlined Practice:
    Operate out of a single hospital campus and an affiliated Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC).
  • Collaborative Call:
    Reasonable schedule with options for dedicated hand call or shared orthopedic call.
Requirements
  • Education:

    Completion of an accredited Orthopedic Surgery Residency.
  • Fellowship:
    Successful completion of a Hand Surgery Fellowship.
  • Certification:
    Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE).
  • Licensure:
    Eligible for a New York State medical license.
  • Experience:

    New graduates are highly encouraged to apply!
Compensation & Benefits

We offer a highly competitive recruitment package designed to support your transition and long-term financial health:

  • Base Salary: $630,000 – $760,000 (starting range; does not include productivity/quality bonuses).
  • Sign-On Bonus: $50,000.
  • Relocation Assistance:
    Up to $25,000.

    Eligible for the federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program.
  • Time Off & CME:
    Generous PTO + 1 week CME with a $4,500 annual allowance.
