Pay Rate: $100,000-$170,000/year;
Based on experience
Location: Syracuse, NY area (On-site)
Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field preferred
Experience: Proven civil/site estimating experience required; leadership experience strongly preferred

Our client in the Syracuse, NY area is seeking an experienced Civil Estimator to support bidding efforts, oversee estimating functions, and contribute to successful project delivery. This is a key leadership role responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, managing the estimation process, and collaborating with project teams to ensure competitive and profitable bids. This opportunity is ideal for a construction professional with strong site civil estimating experience and a passion for guiding teams and improving bid strategies.

Responsibilities of the Civil Estimator will include:

• Lead and support the estimating team throughout all phases of the estimation process
• Review project plans, drawings, specifications, and related documents to prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates
• Utilize estimating software such as Pro Core, Foundation, B2W, and Bluebeam to prepare comprehensive bids
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain essential project data
• Analyze project scope, identify potential risks, and determine opportunities for cost savings
• Prepare bid packages and submit proposals within required deadlines
• Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing
• Monitor project costs during construction and provide updates to stakeholders
• Conduct post-project reviews to assess estimate accuracy and identify areas for improvement
• Support continuous improvement of estimating processes, tools, and team performance

Job Requirements

Qualifications for the role of Civil Estimator:

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred
• Proven experience as a Civil Estimator, Chief Estimator, or similar role within the construction industry
• Strong knowledge of site civil construction, estimating practices, and industry standards
• Proficiency with estimating and construction software, including Pro Core, Foundation, B2W, and Bluebeam
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex project documents and technical data
• Strong negotiation and communication skills
• Solid understanding of project management principles
• High attention to detail, accuracy, and organization
• Leadership experience and ability to guide junior estimators preferred
