Preconstruction Manager – Water Design Build

Base pay range$/yr – $/yr
Your impact- Review proposals, conceptual designs, detailed design documents (drawings and specifications), attend design development meetings, and conduct site visits to define scope of work and cost impacts.
- Prepare estimates by developing project work breakdown structures, calculating complete scope of work take‑offs, assisting contracts staff with statements of work for subcontractors and vendors, applying construction means and methods, preparing schedules, and calculating indirect field and owner’s costs.
- Collaborate with design teams to determine the quality and quantity of input needed for construction estimates.
- Develop reports and presentations, analyze historical data, and balance creative and analytical approaches.
- Bring attention to detail, extensive construction experience, and a desire to grow and tackle challenging water and wastewater projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, and significant experience.
- Proficient skills in current technology (communications, estimating, scheduling, database software); familiarity with AutoCAD, Micro Station, Bluebeam, Timberline, Microsoft Excel, Primavera P6, Smartsheet, and SQL-based databases.
- Understanding of estimating organizational structure and process, including quantity takeoff, crew development, productivity relationships, material quotations, contingency, risk model development, escalation model development, markup structures, and estimate documentation.
- Quantitative risk analysis skills using software (e.g., Deltek Acumen).
- Experience with industry estimating software (Timberline, HCSS Heavy Bid).
- Project scheduling knowledge; ability to use Primavera P6 and/or Smartsheet.
- Experience mentoring junior staff.
- Ability to travel as project needs require.
- Strong written, oral, and presentation skills.
- Client‑facing experience discussing scope, schedule, and budget.
- Interpersonal relationship building and conflict resolution skills.
- Self‑directed and independent work style with clear expectations.
- Extensive background with water and wastewater construction, including field experience.
- Physical ability to meet the demands of the work area (standing, walking, climbing, etc.).
