Overview
Staff Accountant role at Vera House, Inc. is a human service agency that provides unconditional care for individuals and families through comprehensive domestic and sexual violence prevention and intervention services. POSITION SUMMARY: In this role, the Staff Accountant will participate in full-cycle A/P, A/R, posting/reviewing the general ledger, managing monthly credit card statements, and other general accounting tasks. The role may assist the Finance Department with the preparation of the annual budget and year-end audit as needed. Responsibilities include processing invoices and maintaining accounts payable and receivable records.
Responsibilities- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable; handle staff credit cards.
- Support the monthly closing process.
- Assist with annual audits, including researching, compiling, and verifying required documents.
- Complete 1099-Misc and other tax forms seasonally.
- Manage in-kind donations and track transit pass program distribution.
- Recommend ways to reduce costs and enhance revenue.
- Provide general accounting support and work on special projects as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and record management; office procedures and processes.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and financial accounting systems.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and practices; ability to analyze and report financial data.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented; effective oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work with people at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team; adaptability to demanding situations and working under pressure.
- Demonstrated critical thinking to prioritize, plan, and organize work; ability to handle sensitive information responsibly.
- Professional demeanor with ability to work with diverse constituents including donors and consultants.
Salary Range: $25.00-$27.00 per hour/non-exempt
