For more than 50 years, CMF has partnered with the hospital to fund critical programs, services, equipment, research, and family-centered initiatives, ensuring children receive exceptional care close to home.
CMF is entering an exciting period of growth, strategic expansion, and organizational maturation, guided by its first ever multi-year strategic plan.
Position OverviewCMF is seeking a highly motivated Deputy Executive Director to join the organization during a planned leadership transition. The Deputy Executive Director will work closely with the current Executive Director through the remainder of the year, ensuring continuity, institutional knowledge transfer, and strong organizational leadership.
This role is designed to prepare the Deputy Executive Director to assume the Executive Director position at the conclusion of the transition period.
Key ResponsibilitiesOrganizational Leadership & Operations
- Partner with the Executive Director to oversee daily operations and ensure effective execution of CMF’s mission and strategic priorities
- Support implementation of CMF’s multi-year strategic plan, including fundraising growth, governance, and programmatic impact
- Continue to build CMF’s internal systems, policies, and workflows
- Support staff leadership, supervision, and performance management
- Play a lead role in CMF’s fundraising strategy, supporting an annual revenue portfolio of approximately $1.5M
- Assist with donor cultivation, stewardship, and major gift strategies
- Support corporate partnerships, sponsor ships, and special events
- Collaborate on launch of new fundraising initiatives, including giving circles and monthly giving programs
Board & Governance Support
- Work closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to support governance best practices
- Prepare materials for Board and committee meetings
- Partner with Board committees, including Development, Finance, and Governance
- Support Board engagement, onboarding, and training efforts
Hospital & Community Relationships
- Help steward CMF’s partnership with Cohen Children’s Medical Center
- Coordinate with hospital leadership, clinicians, and program partners as appropriate
- Represent CMF at community events, meetings, and donor engagements
Transition & Succession Planning
- Participate in a structured leadership transition and training plan through December 31, 2026
- Gain comprehensive understanding of CMF’s operations, fundraising, governance, and culture
- Prepare to assume the Executive Director role upon completion of the transition period, pending Board approval
- Minimum of5 years of nonprofit leadership experience, preferably in healthcare, fundraising, or mission-driven organizations
- Demonstrated success in fundraising, donor engagement, and revenue growth
- Experience working with Boards of Directors and committees
- Strong operational, organizational, and leadership skills
- Excellent communication and relationship building abilities
- Collaborative, steady, and mission-driven leadership style
- Comfortable operating in a transition and growth environment
- Strategic thinker with strong execution skills
- Ability to build trust with staff, Board members, donors, and partners
