- Review bid documents and RFP to determine the extent of the work scope and the support needed from subcontractors and vendors in the preparation of the estimate (labor, materials, equipment).
- Review and define initial subcontractor work scopes, as well as contact subcontractors and vendors to secure quotes for final estimate.
- Providing quantitative take-offs for equipment, materials and fixtures.
- Review vendor and subcontractor quotes for compliance with bid documents.
- Contact suppliers for cost information and material availability.
- Properly secures and prevents access to confidential business materials.
- Train new and Junior Staff on process, techniques, methods.
- Other tasks and duties, as assigned.
- Deals with multiple projects/tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- May work individually or on teams, as needed.
- Works effectively and honestly with a wide set of internal and external clients, as well as vendors and subcontractors.
- Work Environment:
Office (possible visits to sites).
- Lead and manage the estimating team, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely bid delivery.
- Develop bid strategies, review RFPs, and lead pre-bid meetings with project stakeholders.
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs and pricing for labor, material, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Implement and refine cost-code systems, labor productivity factors, and unit pricing standards.
- Manage vendor/subcontractor RFQs, evaluate proposals, and negotiate pricing.
- Prepare and present competitive bids, budgets, and design-assist proposals for projects
- Collaborate with executives, project managers, and field leadership to align estimating with execution.
- Mentor and develop junior estimators, fostering a high-performing and accountable team.
- Maintain and update historical cost data, market pricing, and estimating tools.
- 10+ years of estimating experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record leading bids on commercial, industrial, or multifamily projects ($5M+).
- Strong communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Ability to balance detail orientation with big-picture strategy.
- Must be local to the area to be considered.
