Worth County Schools School Social Worker Job Description Minimum Qualifications

  • Education Level: Master's degree in social work required
  • Certification/License

    Required:

    Valid Georgia service certificate in School Social Work
  • Physical

    Activities:

    Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities

    Written and oral communication; planning, organization, and time management
Reports To

Director of Student Services

Performance Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance.
  • Work effectively with students, parents, and school personnel to serve the needs of all students and to resolve issues in order to promote student success.
  • Coordinate a referral system to provide direct service to students, parents, and teachers.
  • Make home visits after consultation with administration and/or upon school social worker assessment.
  • Work with schools to implement attendance programs and support compliance of the compulsory attendance law.
  • Serves as liaison between school, home, and the community in order to disseminate information and enhance the student's personal and academic growth which may result in referrals to a specialist and/or community agencies for more intensive services.
  • Work with parents and children in a confidential and caring manner, and assist the family, school, and community in any way required to bridge gaps between family and school.
  • Conduct required training for mandated reporters of suspected child abuse and neglect.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of state law and board policies regarding child welfare.
  • Participate in training programs to increase skills and proficiency related to the assignment.
  • Possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate, and/or credential as may be required for this position.
  • Serves as liaison for Homeless Education
  • Perform other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.
Terms of Employment

195-day position. Salary based on board-approved certified teacher pay schedule.

Evaluation

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the assigned supervisor.
