OverviewThe District Manager & Area Manager positions are responsible for multiple retail convenience/fuel locations. This field‑intensive role oversees the assigned territory 24/7/365, ensuring responsive, proactive, and strong work ethic. The core nature of this role is to develop people using expert knowledge of retail operations to affect growth and maximize the business—both its people and profitability.
Role and ResponsibilitiesPosition Overview
The District Manager is the primary leader for a territory, responsible for developing and inspiring teams, managing business operations, and ensuring profitability and regulatory compliance across all stores within their jurisdiction.
Job Requirements- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a retail multi‑unit convenience store role (direct operations).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools such as Excel.
- Experience with people development, loss prevention, labor management, and key facets of retail operations.
- Preferred: PDI experience (Highly desired).
- Availability to be on call/reachable for team support and maintenance of open operations.
- Good driving record.

- Team development: proactively cross‑train Store Management and hourly employees; identify and guide high‑potential employees; maintain active PDPs for each manager.

- Conduct effective team meetings—at store or district level as needed—setting objectives and agreed outcomes.
- Teamwork: view self as part of the DM/Staff team and foster collaboration; engage beyond territory.
- Effective store visits: planned agenda, take notes, agree action items; utilize JOT forms and Sweep tools for visit effectiveness.
- Fuel Operations and Pricing: 100% service for fueling dispensers; understand fuel system operations, safety, and pricing execution.
- Store Merchandising, Marketing & Sales Building: maintain inventory levels, execute promotions, signage, planograms, pricing, and marketing bulletins.
- Vendor & Product Knowledge: monitor vendor performance, communicate issues, and manage restricted product sales.
- Inventory Management: guide team in build‑to‑based ordering, monitor stock levels, and execute inventory discipline.
- PDI & Store Accounting: subject‑matter expertise on PDI platform; complete accurate daily accounting reports; reconcile sales, vendor deliveries, and cash.
- Labor & Productivity Management: ensure operations within budgeted hours, review wages, minimize overtime, redeploy staff, and promote productivity.
- Loss Prevention & Investigation: review cash variances, investigate discrepancies, enforce policies, and document actions.
- Manage cash over/short audits and daily cash reconciliation.
- Oversee lottery audits and online lotto fraud checks.
- Investigate cigarette, trade, and retail merchandise inventory; conduct and manage monthly inventory counting schedules.
- Oversee payroll checks for supervisor adjustments and potential payroll fraud.
- Monitor surveillance equipment and ensure functionality across all locations.
- Conduct investigations related to loss and represent the company in court appearances; work with local law enforcement.
- Generate and distribute reports—cash reconciliation, cigarette counts, custom income, lottery sales, inventory, audit results, labor analysis, etc.
- Audit retail locations against company policy and performance standards.
- Cover for District Manager vacations or open positions as required.

- Frequently perform repeated bending and reaching; repetitive hand grasping.
- Work in intermittent temperature; stand for an entire shift as required.
- Available to work a variety of shifts and/or days, including weekends and evenings.
