Job Description - Athletic Trainer - PRN )
The Sports Medicine Athletic Trainer is a licensed or certified worker who performs athletic trainer duties essential to the operation of the Sports Medicine clinic and outreach programs.
ResponsibilitiesThe Athletic Trainer (ATC) is a licensed professional who evaluates student athletes/patients; refers to appropriate healthcare providers; plans and implements treatment plans based on the evaluation, and educates patients, families and staff. He/She exercises initiative and judgement in referring appropriate patients to other personnel and reevaluates and modifies treatment programs as necessary. He/She performs appropriate administrative duties, such as treatment notes/logs, referral tracking, and participates in educational programs as assigned or approved by the Director/Manager of Sports Medicine.
Incumbent reports to Director of Sports Medicine
- A.Licensure/Certification:
Required to attain and maintain state licensure and national certification as required by the NCBATE. BLS certification is maintained. - C..Excellent interpersonal communication abilities
- Must possess valid driver’s license with a motor vehicle record acceptable to the hospital’s auto liability insurance carrier and have access to an automobile for use during the course of business.
Regularly lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers very heavy patients/supplies/equipment. Visual acuity to read standard printed material and ability to hear normal conversational speech. Ability to stay on his/her feet for long periods, to bend and stoop, and to reach above shoulder height. There is little exposure to infectious materials and diseases.
