Overview
Assist with managing the College’s Information Systems and Servers with an emphasis on Colleague Systems.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities- Monitor and maintain all college server systems with a primary emphasis on Colleague Systems.
- Monitor and maintain the Virtual Infrastructure System including Backup and Disaster Recovery Systems.
- Ensure all systems are appropriately documented.
- Diagnose and solve problems in a complex technical environment.
- Work closely with the IT Helpdesk to ensure all Colleague patches are implemented and tested.
- Ensure all approved Colleague patches are installed into the Production environment in a timely manner.
- Administer the Colleague System and all related servers.
- Maintain and administer regular system backups and snapshots for all systems. Assist with data restoration when necessary.
- Test the disaster recovery systems on an annual basis to ensure business continuity.
- Configure and maintain the network and communications settings of college servers and ensure they are communicating efficiently.
- Provide support for authentication through the college’s directory servers.
- Ensure the server systems and applications are appropriately secured.
- Implement, configure, administer, secure and document the college’s hardware and operating system environment.
- Provide maintenance and support for data feeds/uploads for multiple other online services including the college applications and servers.
- Server hardware/support to include installation, configuration, diagnosis and problem resolution.
- Maintain the college’s Storage Area Network (SAN).
- Assist with maintaining the college network systems and related infrastructure.
- Assist with installing network equipment where needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the Network and Infrastructure Manager and the Vice President for Information Technology.
Associate’s degree in Information Systems or related field and at least 3 years of experience OR Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or related field and at least one year of experience.
SkillsKnowledge and Skills
- Relevant server system administration experience as defined by education level.
- Unix/Linux administration experience.
- Experience Windows server environment.
- Thorough knowledge of various virtual server infrastructure systems.
- Familiarity with Data Protection Backup and Recovery Systems.
- Familiarity with server system security including familiarity with information security best practices.
- Working knowledge of Windows Power Shell.
- Working knowledge of DNS and DHCP.
Bending / Lifting of Equipment (50 lbs)
Ladder / Lift Training
Network cable installation in overhead areas
Licensing RequirementValid NC Driver’s license
Working Conditions and EnvironmentSome travel is required depending on the demand from supporting off campus sites, work hours include the possibility of working some nights and weekends.
