Overview
The Engineering Tech is responsible for the effective, efficient, compliant, and safe operation of the power plant and its auxiliary systems and equipment. The Combustion Tech operates and monitors the status of all plant systems on a continuous basis to ensure the plant meets its generating requirements while operating safely and in compliance with all permits, codes, and regulations. Plant operations include start-up and shutdown, routine maintenance, and repair of gas turbine/generation, ancillary equipment, and all instruments, control systems, and electronic instrumentation.
The Combustion Tech is responsible for all plant operations activities during the assigned shift, including routine inspections, monitoring, and logging of operating components to provide accurate, reliable operation and reporting of plant status. Respond to alarms with appropriate corrective actions.
- Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs mechanical and de-energized electrical equipment, including gas turbines and auxiliary components, gas compressors, motors, pumps, and other equipment.
- Promote safety, environmental, and regulatory excellence; exhibit leadership in shaping the plant’s safety, environmental, and regulatory culture.
- Operate the facility in compliance with all state and federal permits and regulations.
- Adhere to company policies and comply with all site-specific safety requirements and procedures.
- Operate, monitor, and track normal plant equipment operations.
- Follow defined procedures in plant operating manuals to shut down and start up plant equipment to achieve safe, consistent, and optimum plant output.
- Test and treat water chemistry control as per written procedures.
- Maintain timely and accurate recordkeeping of operating logs, timesheets, work orders, and other administrative documents as required.
- Investigate and troubleshoot plant issues to correct problems and provide feedback, analysis, and recommendations.
- Participate in the administrative maintenance and upgrading of operating manuals, preventive/predictive maintenance procedures, technical references, prints, and diagrams.
- Assist with the training of new and existing operators and other plant staff.
- Actively support continuous improvement through team participation, sharing ideas, and applying new techniques to improve plant performance.
- Identify safety hazards and take corrective actions as necessary; attend safety meetings and training programs and participate in plant safety programs.
- Ensure lockout/tagout processes and work permits are issued and administered in compliance with plant safety procedures.
- Complete plant operator training and maintain the plant in a neat and orderly manner.
- Five plus years’ experience in Gas Turbine operations and maintenance strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical/mechanical flow and instrument diagrams; knowledge of turbine instrumentation calibration preferred.
- Experience with Mark VIe controls systems is preferred.
- Ability to troubleshoot controls and logic; strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work with teams across the organization and to work independently as needed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows/Microsoft Office (Word & Excel); strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals; takes initiative and seeks opportunities to learn.
- Ability to multi-task and to build good relationships among team members.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $27.00 - $32.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on job classification and length of employment. Benefits may include:
