About The Opportunity

The Medical Laboratory Technologist C (MLT-C) is responsible, in collaboration with key partnerships, for the assessment, implementation, planning, evaluation, and translation of existing and new clinical knowledge to practice. The prime focus is to coordinate, support, maintain and deliver competency training (with a focus in Hematology) based on laboratory SOPs and policies in partnership with curriculum leads via classroom, procedural skill/task training, simulation learning, clinical learning, and online learning strategies, while advancing practice.

The MLT-C practices according to the Registered Health Professionals Network Act, their professional regulatory body, and relevant standards of practice.

The MLT-C demonstrates competency in practice, program design and implementation, monitoring and evaluation of education, leadership, and professional practice. They align with the Interprofessional Practice and Learning Framework, which is grounded in adult learning theory, practice development, fundamentals of care, and collaborative learning.

Please note this position requires periodic travel to facilities within Nova Scotia. A valid driver’s license and access to transportation is required.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Graduate from an approved program in Medical Laboratory Technology required
  • Three years’ related experience required
  • Current registration with CSMLS and NSCMLT required
  • Experience in the discipline of Hematology; experiences in core disciplines (Clinical Chemistry, Transfusion Science) are an asset
  • Certification in Simulation Specialist or Simulation Educator programs (e.g., CHSOS, CHSE, SLIIC) an asset
  • Leadership Development Education an asset
  • Adult Education Program an asset
  • Ability to recognize abnormal situations and respond appropriately
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with Meditech is essential
  • Previous experience with Blood Collection is an asset
  • Strong customer service, leadership, organization, technical, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel an asset
  • Competencies in other languages an asset;
    French preferred

Compensation And Benefits

$38.91 - $49.63
