Cape Breton Regional Hospital (CBRH) in Sydney, Cape Breton, is seeking emergency physicians to join its dynamic team. As a Level 2 trauma center
, CBRH plays a crucial role in providing emergency care for patients across the region. Opened in 1995, it is now the second-largest acute care facility in Nova Scotia, serving more than 200,000 patients annually

CBRH is part of a four-hospital complex that includes Glace Bay, New Waterford Consolidated, and Northside General Hospitals

• 23 intermediate and critical care beds
• 40 maternal-child beds
• 52 mental health and addiction beds

The hospital provides a wide range of primary and secondary services through in-patient, outpatient, and community-based programs.

The Cape Breton Regional Hospital is seeking emergency medicine physicians to provide locum coverage during ongoing recruitment.

New locum physicians are kept on protected shifts (mostly triple-coverage, sometimes double-coverage) and will not be placed on 6am or 10pm due to single coverage periods during those shifts.

Compensation is provided by the service, and locum physicians are eligible to access the travel elements of the program, including reimbursement for kilometrage, per diems, accommodations (up to $300 per night), and airfare (up to $1,500), along with travel time up to 10 hours per week. Licensing fees for CPSNS are covered, and locum physicians may claim Facility On Call fees under specific conditions.
