The Cape Breton Regional Hospital (CBRH), in Sydney, NS, is seeking a full-time neonatologist to join their team of 3. The successful candidate will join the current 6 physician Pediatrics team in Eastern zone. The CBRH has a 10 bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit along with an 8-bed pediatrics unit. On average 1000 deliveries take place at the CBRH each year with numbers steadily increasing.

CBRH opened its doors to patients in 1995. Now, it is the second largest acute care facility in Nova Scotia that serves more than 200,000 patients a year. It is part of a four-hospital complex that also includes Glace Bay, New Waterford Consolidated, and Northside General Hospitals. Located in the historic town of Sydney, CBRH has 162 acute care beds, 36 emergency beds, 23 intermediate and critical care beds, 40 maternal child beds, 52 mental health and addiction beds, and nine palliative care beds.
The hospital provides a range of primary and secondary services through in-patient, outpatient, and community-based programs.

Responsibilities
- Attend at delivery and care for patients at any gestational age, requiring NICU services
- Surgery in house on weekdays to cover all neonatal services in NICU LDR/OR, Mother baby unit and perinatal clinic. In-house coverage is split among neonatologists.
- Teaching; residents and students – there is a remuneration for teaching
Expected Hours
- On call – split all calls with other neonatologists to provide 365 days neonatal coverage. On call is on first call for very sick neonates and deliveries
