Job Title: Substitute Nurse/LVN
Reports To: Campus Principal and Human Resources
$100.00 as substitute RN (must have a valid current Texas RN)
$70.00 as substitute LVN (must have an LVN License)
Primary PurposeTo provide continuous, smooth and efficient operation of school health services during the absence of the campus clinic staff.
General Qualification Guidelines Education/Certification/Experience- Must have a valid current Texas RN or LVN license
- Current CPR/AED certification required
- RNs and LVNs
- Evaluate ill and injured children and communicate with parents as needed
- Administer First Aid, CPR, or AED as needed
- Administer medication as prescribed and in compliance with State law and District policy
- Follow students' medical protocol
- Comply with all Nursing Practice Act regulations
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities
- Maintain an extreme degree of confidentiality by following the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) for student information and by following the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) for employee and student information
- HR orientation Attendance is required
- Fingerprinting by TEA is required (HR will assist applicant, fee of 47-50 dollars is payable by the applicant)
- Training by District Nurse is required
- Ability to adapt to any particular situation.
- Ability to be flexible to the needs of each particular campus or department.
- Ability to comply with written and or oral instructions.
- Ability to create an efficient working relationship with other personnel.
- Willingness to stand for most hours of the day or sit for extensive periods of time.
- Close and personal relationship with pupils on a daily basis.

Working Conditions Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental FactorsMaintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. May be required to lift and position students with physical disabilities. Biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases.
