TITLE: Custodian

CATEGORY: Buildings and Grounds

LOCATION: District Wide

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide students and school personnel with a safe, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to work, learn, and develop.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Understanding of proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Ability to perform daily tasks with minimum supervision.
• Ability to perform moderate to heavy manual labor.
• Ability to use basic power tools.
• Ability to work independently.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

• Keep buildings and premises, including driveways and play areas neat and clean at all times.
• Clean corridors after school each day and during the day when the condition requires it.
• Scrubs and disinfects toilets and toilet floor daily. Clean all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily.
• Clean door glass weekly or more frequently if needed.
• Keeps grounds free of trash.
• Make minor building repairs as is capable.
• Assumes responsibility for opening and closing the building each school day as is required for the specific position.
• Clear snow and ice from sidewalks, steps and entrances; includes shoveling and spreading ice melt.
• Performs other duties as directed by supervisor

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve-month;
Full-Time

Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

Background clearance required; the results of which must be satisfactory to the District.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with

provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Staff Personnel.
