Education & Certification Requirements- Master’s degree in speech and language pathology meeting State of Illinois academic and supervised practicum experience requirements.
- Valid Standard Special License, Type 10 or 73 in Speech and Language Impaired. May also be licensed in accordance with the Illinois Speech‑Language Pathology and Audiology Practice Act; may hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CC) from the American Speech‑Language Hearing Association.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional periodicals, journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply concepts to practical solutions.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
- Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program.
- Ability to plan and implement lessons based on District and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents, and community.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
- Ability to perform all duties with the awareness of all District requirements and Board of Education policies.
- Able to regularly sit and occasionally walk and stand.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
- Able to hear conversations in a quiet and/or noisy environment, and will continually need the ability to differentiate between bells, buzzers, etc.
- Identifies and evaluates students with speech and language impairments.
- Participates in the determination of eligibility for special education and related services in the area of speech and language impairment.
- Participates in teacher and parent conferences, including multidisciplinary conferences, IEP meetings, and annual reviews.
- Develops and implements IEPs for all students eligible for special education and related services in the area of speech and language impairment.
- Provides in‑service programs to parents, teachers, students, administrators, and other professionals.
- Completes required documents and reports.
- Participates on child study and teacher assistance teams.
- Facilitates curriculum and instructional modifications.
- Participates in continuing professional education.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
