Global Category Expert and Buyer within CAPEX m/f/d, Wallis

Are you interested to manage the procurement category management activities of some bigger CAPEX investment projects? In this role you will coordinate with Capex Lead buyers and Piping Subject Matter Expert (SME) the planning and execution of projects mainly for our clients location in Visp, with some touching points to the location in Stein and regular exchange about learnings from previous CAPEX projects in the US

start date: March/April/Mai 2026 end date: March 2027 (with a high chance onto extension)
workload: 100% - 3 days onsite, 2 days working from home location: Visp (CH) with 1-2 trips per quarter to Stein (CH)

• Execute and update of overall Category Strategies
• Management of demand, supply and capacity with key suppliers and stakeholders
• Supplier Relationship Management with key partners
• Monitoring market for technological and regulatory trends
• Scanning market and internal stakeholder for identifying, analyzing and mitigating risks
• Delivering regular reports on market intelligence for lead time and prices
• Development of purchasing execution strategies for projects
• Procurement of Piping bulk material, fittings, flanges, supports, insulation, passivation, piping installation services and design
• Strategic and operational procurement tasks, including
• Definition and implementation of the procurement strategy as well as targets / department or supplier, taking into account the market situation and classification of products
• Bundling of procurement measures within the plant and in conjunction with other Lonza sites
• Preparation, conclusion and maintenance of framework agreements
• Development of action plans, relationship management with suppliers, evaluation of new suppliers and management of strategic key account (supplier) activities
• Optimization of Life Cycle Cost  (LCC) and reduction of material, transport, ancillary and follow-up costs
• Coordination, lead or participation in projects to further the development and improve the efficiency of technical purchasing as well as to achieve common targets
• Member of the Global Category Team for Construction, Fit-out and Automation
• Leading and responsible for large & complex RFQ packages End to End
• Responsible for weekly update of his/her packages in Procurement Management Plan (PMP)
• Supporting on medium & simple RFQ packages
• Supporting team with category specific benchmarks and costs break downs

• Advanced degree in supply chain, business management, trade or economics
• At least 3 years pharma or biotech industry or similar environment with sterile environment (e.g. semiconductors for clean rooms)
• At least 2 years' experience doing tendering of complex and large piping and/or mechanical packages in GMP environment for the relevant industry mentioned above
• High expertise in regional (EU and UK) and local market (DACH region) for relevant categories
• At least 2 years experience with category management, meaning has done at least once a category strategy and implemented.
• Excellent social skills and stakeholder management
• Advanced level negotiations and contract management
• Participationg in at least one capex project from early engineering until MC or OQ/PQ
• First touching points with agile project management methods
• Procurement or supply Certifications (e.g. CIPS) is a strong advantage
• Excellent english language skills - German language skills are an advantage
