Analog IC Senior Design Engineer

Saphyrion Sagl is among the European leaders in the design of radiation-hardened integrated circuits for space-borne electronic applications. To support new and challenging developments in the field of rad-hard IC design, the company is seeking an experienced Analog IC Senior Design Engineer. This position offers the opportunity to work in close contact with some of the most ambitious space missions planned in Europe and the United States, contributing to the establishment of a strong European hub for space-qualified IC design.

The role requires strong expertise in the design and coordination of complex analog and, where applicable, RF/mixed-signal integrated circuits. Design activities span from low-frequency operational circuits to V/W-band applications, implemented in both BiCMOS and CMOS silicon technologies. Experience with III–V semiconductor processes, such as GaAs, is considered an advantage. Within the context of a small but highly experienced organization, the successful candidate is expected to integrate quickly into the existing team, collaborate effectively, and maintain a clear understanding of overall project objectives beyond the scope of assigned tasks.

In addition to core design activities, the engineer should be able to contribute, when necessary, to practical electronics engineering tasks. These include the setup of ASIC test benches and the organization and execution of IC performance measurement campaigns at external facilities, such as irradiation laboratories. A hands‑on approach and the ability to work across the full development cycle are essential.

The successful candidate must have strong proficiency with Cadence EDA tools for analog IC design and preferably experience in transistor‑level RF and mixed‑signal circuit design. The role includes responsibility for the layout design of assigned circuit blocks, as well as active participation in laboratory testing and characterization of integrated circuits.

A minimum of three to five years of professional experience in analog and, where applicable, RF/mixed‑signal IC design is mandatory.

Saphyrion is located in the southern (Italian‑speaking) part of Switzerland, near the Lake of Lugano, in a region highly considered because of its natural beauties and mild climate. The Italian town of Milan is only 70 km away.
