Overview
As a Factory Environmental and Employee Health & Safety Specialist, you will be part of the local HSE team with a key role in HSE development, focusing mainly on Environmental topics while providing strong support on Health & Safety activities.
Key tasks on the Environmental side include safeguarding the site’s environmental integrity and driving sustainability forward. You will ensure full compliance with relevant environmental laws, regulations, and permits, while fostering relationships with community stakeholders and environmental authorities. You will develop, implement, and maintain environmental policies and procedures that promote accountability across the organization. By conducting environmental risk assessments, delivering training on sustainability practices, and leading initiatives that improve resource efficiency, you will contribute to reducing the factory’s environmental footprint and support long-term operational excellence.
On the Health & Safety side, you will support the main HSE development activities organized by the HSE Manager, delivering results according to Management expectations.

Responsibilities- Ensure regulatory compliance with Swiss environmental law and related frameworks (USG/EPA, LRV/OAPC, GSchG/WPA, VVEA, ChemA/ChemO), including permit management and coordination with cantonal authorities (BAFU)
- Lead environmental impact assessments for new production lines, plant changes, and modifications, ensuring alignment with internal environmental policies
- Manage waste and disposals, including segregation, traceability, registers, supplier audits, and all special waste streams, while supporting waste reduction and VVEA improvement initiatives
- Oversee chemical compliance, including ChemA, ChemO, ORRChem, CLP, manage and maintain Safety SDS requirements, and notifications of new substances
- Support safe handling and storage of dangerous goods (DG) by coordinating with relevant departments and ensuring ongoing compliance
- Plan and conduct environmental audits and inspections, identifying improvement areas and ensuring timely corrective actions, and providing environmental compliance support and training to Engineering, Maintenance, and overall Business Unit, including REACH/RoHS documentation and sustainability-related data needs
- In Health & Safety, support HSE manager in H&S-related topics managing production activities and equipment with the highest safety standards, both practically and in documentation
- Support HSE reporting activities required by governmental or Hitachi Energy internal stakeholders
- Min. 3 years of experience in environmental roles within the industrial sector and strong knowledge of Swiss environmental regulations and compliance obligations
- Solid understanding of best practices in emissions, waste, water, chemicals, and sustainability
- Strong analytical skills, including environmental data processing and use of relevant software tools
- Basic knowledge of H&S principles and concepts
- Excellent command of Office 365 applications
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to assess environmental risks and develop effective mitigation strategies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for engaging with diverse internal and external stakeholders
- Fluent in Italian and English
