System Architect Optics (H/F) - SAFRAN VECTRONIX AG

Safran is a leading high‑technology group operating in aerospace, space and defense. SAFRAN Vectronix is a global leader in state‑of‑the‑art optronic equipment. We are looking for a System Architect Optics to design advanced optical systems for consumer products.

Responsibilities
  • Define and architect optical consumer products, ensuring performance, reliability, and cost‑effectiveness.
  • Translate product requirements and consumer needs into comprehensive system specifications.
  • Lead system‑level integration activities, balancing optical, mechanical, electronic, and software requirements.
  • Lead technical definition, architecture, and roadmap of advanced optical systems for consumer products (multifunctional observation devices).
  • Specify and validate system interfaces across multidisciplinary teams (optical, mechanical, electronic, firmware/software).
  • Serve as a technical reference for internal and external stakeholders throughout the product development lifecycle and serialization.
  • Work with suppliers and manufacturing teams to drive product industrialization and quality assurance.
  • Stay up‑to‑date with emerging trends and innovations in optical science, materials, and technologies.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Physics, Optics or related field (ETH or equivalent, University of Applied Sciences).
  • At least 3 years’ proven experience in optical product development and system‑level architecture, particularly in consumer environments; knowledge in binoculars and laser range finder is a plus.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and collaborating across project phases.
  • Strong team spirit and excellent analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficient in development methods.
  • Fluency in German and English.
